Vintage Style Christmas Shaker Cards

We see this on blogs and in other shops all the time: Christmas in July! I really love the idea of creating all the Christmas cards in July and have everything ready. When the season comes, it would be so easy just to grab one and send it out... for some reason we never manage to to this around here. By the time we start making Christmas cards in our studio, the season is almost over. We're glad if we get them out in time!

Since the Birthday Shaker Card was such a success, we received an order for the same card but with a Christmas theme.

Here two variations of the same design.

Of course you can find these cards, along with several other vintage style Christmas items in our Etsy Shop....

The tags were made for a Thanksgiving Wedding, as
Pumpkin Favor Tags

Beautiful Thank You Cards made for a Christening

Acorn Tags made for our Thanksgiving Table last year

These Handpainted Pumpkin Tags were made for Crystal from
she used them as background for a pair of beautiful earrings she made. The tags were also included in her Giveaway that week.

This week we read a sign outside a church... it said:

THIS THANKSGIVING BE THANKFUL FOR ALL THE THINGS YOU DON'T HAVE!

At first I thought this sounded silly, but actually... we really should be counting our blessings and Thank God for all the things he protected us from.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

Just A Little Note

Have you ever been SORRY for not keeping in touch with someone? Have you ever thought "I wish I would have called, texted, emailed or... just sent a little note some time? Did you ever realize how great these  people  were, only when it was too late, because.... they had passed away? How helpless and frustrating that feeling is. And how we wish, we had only one more chance to tell them how we feel about them and what their presence in our lives ment to us....

I am telling you: it is very simple. Evey now and then, without any reason, just send a little note.

Show that you care, that you keep them in mind, even if you don't call every day, even if you live on a different continent or if life's paths took you another way.

Cherish your friendships!

Spellbinders gone wild - Birthday card

This Birthday Card was made combining different shades of purple.

The recipe includes pretty simple ingredients, an embossing folder, a couple of Spellbinders grand cutting dies, some pearls and a classy satin ribbon.

The sentiment is attached in 3D fashion, with dimensionals. A pretty simple card, with big effect.

Rustic bridal shower - burlap stationery

Today we are sharing a special project we had at the beginning of this year. The bridal shower was taking place in a rustic location and the stationery was designed with this in mind. What more appropriate accessory can you ask for when it comes to making it look rustic than BURLAP??

The stationery collection included menu cards

Made on ivory cardstock, handstamped and shaded for a more vintage look.

Gift table signs

Bar signs: the bride and groom were serving their favorite cocktails.

Also: each guest could use one of these cards to give advice to the new bride.

What an ingenious idea. They were later added to the wedding scrapbook.

The bridal shower included a guessing game.

The cards were hung on a hemp string and the questions were initially answered by the groom. Let's hope that the bride found the right answers!

This must have been fun!

These items and more can be found in our Etsy store. Please visit!

Custom Birthday Shaker Cards

Happy Birthday!

This card was a rush order for a friend... It was supposed to be a Birthday Party Invite but it ended as a Favor Thank You Card.

It went through a few changes before it became what it is.

Anyway, the Birthday Cake is tickled by little shiny beeds.

The shaker card combines the birthday girl's favorite colors: each card is a unique piece of art.

Each of the lucky guests receives one of these unique shaker cards.

Savannah Smiles Wedding - First Posting

For our first post we want to share with you one of our favorite invitations.

It was custom made for a rustic country wedding. Everything was made according to the bride’s taste. Well…. Except for the wood graining, which was the groom’s request.

The wood graining was used on the outside as well as on the inside of the invite:

The graining was hand painted on taupe card stock, using the Martha Stewart wood graining tool. This was a fun project.

A very involved invite, intricate, combining rustic elements, like de burlap, with modern techniques like the silver embossing.

For the 300plus invites we killed about 3 heat guns. They didn't last a long time. In fact it was quite frustrating at times. So mom came up with a very ingenious idea, which we will share in a future post: heat embossing SavannahSmiles style! It's funny too!

This was a dream wedding and a huge favorite of ours!
You can find this invite in our Etsy shop!
